Frequently asked questions
Hypnosis is a natural ability we all have. When you watch a movie and laugh when it’s funny, you are in a hypnosis like state. Yes! We provide hands-on training in classroom environments for beginners as well as those who are more experienced and looking to further their hypnotic abilities and careers. Many students take hypnosis training to help themselves, or their family members or friends. Others want to learn hypnosis to improve leadership, confidence, communication, people skills, sales and getting goals. There are also students who have the goal of building careers as professional hypnotists. Our hypnosis training is available for students around the world at our training facility in Burlington as well as through virtual classroom training
Completing 120-150 hours of hypnosis training is generally enough of a foundation to begin seeing paying clients. You can achieve this by completing the Certified Hypnotist Training.
It depends on the laws of your land. Here, in Ontario, Canada, you do not need a university or college degree to practice hypnosis. A high school diploma is a pre-requisite for most hypnosis training.
Hypnosis training tends to be hands-on and people focused. There is some traditional school learning as well.
Hypnotists help people lose weight, stop smoking, manage stress, manage pain (with physician's referral), and improve sports and academic performance. Anything that is considered a medical diagnosis is beyond the hypnotist's scope of practice.
It is recommended by the National Guild of Hypnotists that the terms hypnotherapist and hypnotherapy are reserved for licensed health professionals who have been formally trained and accredited to help people with mental health issues such as depression and anxiety.

Hypnotists help people improve their lives and get goals. Hypnosis is educational, and learning hypnosis is self-help. Hypnotists do not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
Treating mental health conditions is generally within the scope of practice of doctors, psychotherapists, psychologists, social workers etc. To avoid confusing the public, the recommendation is to only call yourself a hypnotherapist if you are a license track therapist with training in hypnosis.

All of our students lead full, busy lives. So we make our programs as flexible as possible while putting the focus on maximizing the quality of your learning.
The classroom modules of our programs are generally 4 consecutive days, Friday to Monday. You can attend in person at our training facility in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, or online via Zoom.
The remaining training requirements are flexible. They are offered online and/or in person and there are many day and time options available.
We recommend that students complete their course requirements within 6-8 weeks to maximize their learning and integration of the material. There are times when people need more time due to other commitments. Students have up to 2 years to complete their training requirements to be eligible for certification.

Whether you're interested in personal development or professional use, no prior experience is required for beginner courses.
Our programs are open to people who are at least 18 years of age and have completed secondary education or equivalent.

Hypnosis Training Canada Inc., Robbie Spier Miller and the Master Hypnotist Society Canada reserve the right to refuse any student based upon the scheduling and availability of Robbie Spier Miller as a trainer.

Yes, participants who complete the requirements of our training programs successfully will receive a Certificate of Completion from Master Hypnotist Society Canada.
Those who complete the Basic Hypnosis Training / Certified Hypnotist Training are also eligible to be certified by the National Guild of Hypnosits as a Certified Hypnotist / Certified Consulting Hypnotist / Certified Hypnotherapist. Students are required to complete a written exam and pay an additional fee for the National Guild of Hypnotists certification.

When you complete the Basic Hypnosis Training Certificate program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from Master Hypnotist Society Canada. Completing this training plus the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH) exam will also give you the credentials from the NGH of Certified Hypnotist, Certified Consulting Hypnotist or Certified Hypnotherapist.
Upon completion of the NLP Practitioner Training program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion from Master Hypnotist Society Canada.
You will receive a Certificate of Completion from Master Hypnotist Society Canada when you complete your course requirements for any course we offer.
Completing the Advanced Clinical Hypnosis Training Certificate qualifies you to become a member of the RITMA Groupe. This credential allows you to give your clients insurance receipts for your services under the category Naturopathie in Quebec and Natural Therapy in the other Canadian provinces.
Robbie Spier Miller, Director and Lead Trainer, is a Master Trainer for Master Hypnotist Society Canada, and a Certified Trainer with Master Hypnotist Society and National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH). With over 20 years of experience as a hypnotist, she was also awarded the NGH Order of the Braid Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution and dedication to the profession in 2023.
Hypnosis Training Canada is also a Recognized School with the RITMA Groupe.
All of our trainers have many years of experience and have undergone intensive mentorship under the guidance of Robbie and other trainers at the Master Hypnotist Society.

To start hypnosis or hypnotherapy training, you typically do not need any specific qualifications. Having the curiosity and willingness to look at yourself and others from different perspectives, and be open to learning, will help you get the most out of your hypnosis training. Most hypnotherapy training programs welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds.
At Hypnosis Training Canada we require that each prospective student attend an admissions consultation (online or in-person). At this time we explore the student's wants, needs and goals and see if this type of training is a good fit.
After completing hypnosis or hypnotherapy training, you can pursue various career opportunities, including:
- Starting your own hypnosis practice.
- Blending hypnosis into coaching programs.
- Adding hypnotherapy to your existing social work, psychotherapy, psychology, counseling or psychiatry practice.
